How to choose a scarf for winter

How many do we need? How do we choose which one to wear? And where do we find good ones? Well, I have the answers to all those questions and more. Here are my top five tips for buying a new winter scarf.

Look at the colours you like to wear.

There’s no point in buying a red scarf if all your clothes are orange. Use your existing wardrobe as a starting point for what colours to look for in a new scarf.

Thinner scarves can be just as warm.

You don’t always need the biggest, thickest, wooliest scarf to stay warm in the winter. A nice cotton scarf can be wrapped around your neck for warmth, and can be a little thinner than a big fluffy scarf.

The way you wear your scarf is your uniqueness.

Just wrap your scarf around your neck however you want, there is no right or wrong way to do it! BUT don’t be afraid to play with different ways to wear your scarf – fold it in half, tie the ends or even roll a long scarf into a belt! Don’t be afraid to experiment.

 Play with patterns.

I think a lot of people are afraid of bright, colourful scarves because most of them are printed, but we often wear printed clothes too. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns in your look! Just find a colour or theme that connects them.
