Care for wool

Care for wool

To care for wool, ventilate items instead of frequent washing, hand wash or machine wash on a cold wool cycle with mild detergent (avoid fabric softener), gently press out water (don't wring), and always dry flat away from heat/sun to prevent shrinking and stretching. Store clean wool folded in airtight containers with moth repellents like cedar, and use a wool comb for pills.

General Care & Refreshing

Ventilate: Air wool outdoors (away from direct sun) or in a steamy bathroom to refresh and remove wrinkles.

Rest: Give garments a day to recover shape between wears.

Spot Clean: Gently blot stains with a damp cloth and wool detergent; avoid rubbing.

Washing (When Necessary)

Check Label: Always read the care label first.

Cold Water: Use cool (30°C/86°F or below) water.

Gentle Cycle: Use the wool/gentle cycle with a low spin (under 600 RPM).

Wool Detergent: Use a liquid detergent made for wool; avoid fabric softener.

Hand Wash: Submerge in cool water, gently press (don't rub), soak, then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Drying & Storing

Dry Flat: Reshape and lay flat on a towel to dry, rolling to absorb water; never hang knits to dry as they stretch.

No Heat/Sun: Keep away from direct sunlight or tumble dryers.

Fold for Storage: Store clean wool folded in drawers or airtight containers to prevent moths. Add cedar or lavender sachets.

Dealing with Pills (Fuzz Balls)

Comb Gently: Use a fine-toothed wool comb or a fabric shaver to gently lift pills off the surface.
